Trial-results highlights

For individuals with Type 1 Diabetes, clinical trials evaluated the effects of sotagliflozin on A1C levels. In NCT02384941 (inTandem1), the change from baseline in A1C at Week 24 was -0.43 percentage of A1C for the sotagliflozin 200 mg arm and -0.48 percentage of A1C for the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm, compared to -0.07 percentage of A1C for placebo. Similarly, in NCT02421510 (inTandem2), the change from baseline in A1C at Week 24 was -0.39 percentage of A1C for the sotagliflozin 200 mg arm and -0.37 percentage of A1C for the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm, versus -0.02 percentage of A1C for placebo. A third trial, NCT02531035 (inTandem3), reported that 28.6 percentage of participants in the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm achieved A1C <7.0% at Week 24 without severe hypoglycemia or diabetic ketoacidosis, compared to 15.2 percentage of participants in the placebo arm.

For individuals with Type 2 Diabetes, sotagliflozin was also studied for its impact on HbA1c. In NCT02926937, the change from baseline in HbA1c at Week 26 was -1.03 percentage of HbA1c for the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm, versus -0.34 percentage of HbA1c for placebo. Another study, NCT02926950, showed a change of -0.77 percentage of HbA1c for the sotagliflozin 400 mg + metformin arm, compared to -0.29 percentage of HbA1c for placebo + metformin. In NCT03066830, the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm reported a -0.70 percentage HbA1c change from baseline at Week 26, while the placebo arm reported 0.06 percentage HbA1c. For participants with Type 2 Diabetes and chronic kidney disease, NCT03242018 (SOTA-CKD4) found a change of -0.40 percentage of HbA1c for the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm versus -0.11 percentage of HbA1c for placebo. In NCT03242252 (SOTA-CKD3), the change from baseline in HbA1c at Week 26 was -0.32 percentage of HbA1c for the sotagliflozin 200 mg arm and -0.46 percentage of HbA1c for the sotagliflozin 400 mg arm, compared to -0.22 percentage of HbA1c for placebo.

All values presented here are sourced from primary registry reporting, and individual published papers should be consulted for clinical decisions.
