The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group, visiting nurse services and a clinical day school. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.
This position reports to the Director of Adolescent Education and to the Director of Child and Adolescent Ambulatory Services. Responsible for monitoring and responding to the overall health needs of students in the Clinical Day School. Responsibilities include performing initial student assessments (safety status, physical and/or emotional complaints, hygiene, etc.), monitoring self-administration of medications (prescribed or otherwise), maintaining state-required student health assessment records, prioritizing daily telephone calls regarding student’s health issues and/or medications, and observing, documenting and reporting medication issues/concerns to the appropriate MD or prescribing doctor.This position requires a holistic approach to adolescent health and a working knowledge of health issues (medical and psychiatric) pertaining to the adolescent population.
Qualifications
• CT licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification is required.
• Age-specific knowledge of population and level of care age-specific competences are required.
• Familiarity with abuse and neglect reporting and duty-to-warn mandates and knowledge of community-based resources is preferred, but not required.
• A minimum of two (2) years experience.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health.
• This position requires strong clinical skills including a demonstrated strong team orientation.
• Strong written as well as verbal communication using the English language is essential.
• Must be flexible in approach so that service-specific as well as overall system needs can be met.
• Must be able to function effectively and independently in a work environment where multitasking is necessary.
• Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft WORD and OUTLOOK is essential.
