Job Description

Make an important difference by supporting students with autism in educational settings throughout the region. This contract position is an excellent fit for a dedicated Autism Specialist who thrives working collaboratively and enjoys meaningful, in-person interaction. The assignment runs through June 2025 and involves traveling to various schools in Polk, Yamhill, and Marion counties with a manageable 12-hour workweek.

Key Qualifications:
• Valid TSPC Special Education License required
• Demonstrated experience working as an Autism Specialist in K-12 educational settings
• Strong ability to assess and observe students using a variety of tools and interview methods
• Thorough understanding of best practices for supporting students with autism within school environments
• Collaborative mindset, ready to consult with education teams and share resources
• Comfortable traveling between multiple school sites (reliable transportation required)
• Excellent communication and organization skills

Primary Responsibilities:
• Evaluate students through direct observation and a range of assessment tools
• Guide educational team members by recommending appropriate strategies, resources, and materials for autistic students
• Help colleagues understand appropriate/inappropriate interventions for addressing academic and life needs
• Foster integration of autistic students with peers, providing practical advice and support to school staff
• Deliver direct services to students as needed, including modeling interventions for staff
• Maintain timely documentation and clear communication with teams at each school location
