Job Description
Location: Fremont, CA - In-home
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9 am - 3 pm
Are you passionate about working with children and making a meaningful difference in the lives of families? BrightStar Care of Hayward/Fremont is seeking compassionate, patient, and dependable caregivers to provide respite care for children with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
This role is ideal for caregivers who have experience supporting children with behavioral, sensory, communication, or developmental needs and are committed to providing safe, engaging, and compassionate care.
Responsibilities
• Provide one-on-one respite care for children with developmental disabilities in the home
• Support children with daily routines, supervision, and age-appropriate engagement
• Assist with behavioral redirection using patience and positive reinforcement
• Facilitate activities that promote socialization, independence, and development
• Provide companionship and emotional support while ensuring child safety
• Communicate professionally with families and the care team
• Maintain accurate care documentation and follow care plans
Requirements:
Required Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience working with children with developmental disabilities, including autism, ADHD, sensory disorders, intellectual disabilities, or related conditions
• Experience in respite care, behavioral support, ABA settings, special education, childcare, pediatric caregiving, or similar environments preferred
BrightStar Care Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year of professional caregiving experience
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
• Ability to pass Live Scan background check
• Current TB test/clearance
• Eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care
• Strong communication and professionalism
• Bilingual caregivers encouraged to apply
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
• Familiarity with behavioral interventions, sensory needs, or de-escalation techniques
• Background in special education, pediatric care, ABA, childcare, or caregiving
