Practice Info
• Research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
• Clinical and office space provided at the Biomedical Research Center, located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus in Baltimore, MD
• Rich and highly interactive translational clinical environment at the main NIH campus and the NIDA IRP in Baltimore
• Multidisciplinary team investigating novel diagnostic and treatment approaches for addiction
Responsibilities
• Provide patient care, medical support, and clinical oversight required for the sound conduct of clinical research protocols
• Conduct and/or contribute to cutting-edge translational and clinical research related to addiction, neuroscience, and mental health
• Serve as the study physician on a variety of research protocols related to substance use disorders
• Provide patient care, medical support, and clinical oversight to study participants (e.g., healthy volunteers, people with alcohol and substance use disorders) for outpatient and inpatient human research studies
• Serve as a scientist and be involved in the scientific aspects of the clinical research program
• Develop novel translational and clinical research
• Design clinical protocols, disseminate research findings at conferences and lectures, and publish results in peer-reviewed Journals
• Administer clinical research programs; analyze, evaluate, and generate scientific and clinical data; and support the conceptualization of new research direction and projects

Requirements
• Possess a M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree(s)
• Have all the credentials required for licensing to allow the practice of medicine in the United States
• Be credentialed as a physician at the NIH
• Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, must have at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training
• To qualify at the GP-15 level, demonstrate at least five years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled, or five years of equivalent experience and training
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Board certification(s) by an appropriate American Board (for example psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, neurology, medical toxicology, clinical pharmacology or other related medical specialty) is preferred
• Experience in addiction is highly desirable
