Job Description
staff work in multi-disciplinary teams to support students in particular grade cohorts. We are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to join our team.
Job Summary
Teaching Assistants/Counselors work with the classroom teachers and collaborate with the students’ broader team (e.g., speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, transition specialists etc) to increase students’ success within and beyond the classroom. It is the Teaching Assistant’s responsibility to supervise students in various academic, therapeutic, and community settings while promoting the independence of the student. The Teaching Assistant will work with the students to explore and integrate reasonable accommodations in the student’s daily routine and to promote students’ individualized goals.
Major Responsibilities
• Provide training and supervision to students
• Collaborate with team members to determine which modifications, accommodations, and assessment approaches are necessary to allow students to succeed
• Work with a team to support students in an academic environment
• Support students’ processing to increase their therapeutic growth
• Collect data across different skills and behaviors on a daily basis
• Promote generalization of students’ acquired skills -Hours: Full-Time 7:30AM-3:00PM.
Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree or higher
• Previous experience working with students with autism, developmental, psychiatric and/or behavioral issues
• Experience with behavior management – Data collection experience is strongly preferred
