SUMMARY: The HealthWellness Care Professional (HWCP) provides care, advocacy, and treatment across all shifts for all residents and day students of Chileda. This position is responsible for passing scheduled and non-scheduled medications to students giving basic first aid treatment for minor injuries, accompanying residents on medical and/or dental appointments as needed, and seeking guidance from medical professionals related to emergency medical treatment. This position will also perform other duties as assigned by the Health and Wellness Manager and Health and Wellness Care Coordinator(s).
REQUIRED EDUCATIONEXPERIENCE:
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR
• Successful completion of CBRF Medication Administration training or willingness to attend training
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficient PC skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Outlook and Word
GENERAL HOURS OF DUTY: Full time or part time available, 2nd shift hours between 2:00pm and 10:00pm
REPORTS TO: HealthWellness Manager
JOB DUTIES:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
• Provide first aid treatment for minor injuries.
• Respond to urgent medical concerns on campus including seizures and serious illness or injuries and seek the assistance of the appropriate medical professions (e.g. nurse's hotline, poison control).
• Observe students in times of illness, consult with outside medical professionals, and provide recommended treatment as needed.
• Communicate student's health and wellness needs to other members of the Health and Wellness team or cross-functional peers.
• Accurately document and record pertinent medical data in Health and Wellness Daily Log, student's Medical Chart, eMAR and electronic client management system.
• Train new Health and Wellness Care Professionals, as needed, under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, Health and Wellness Manager, and/or Care Coordinator(s).
• Check-in delivered medications promptly per Medication Check-In procedure.
