urrently undergoing a rapid and exciting phase of expansion. Our faculty are engaged in pioneering research across a diverse array of scientific disciplines, including neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, neuroscience, toxicology, drug addiction, cancer, space medicine, and drug discovery for neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.
The Louisiana Addiction Research Center was established in 2022 and operates as a premier regional hub dedicated to addiction science, educational outreach, and community engagement. The Center's primary objective is to advance both the understanding of and the clinical treatment for substance use disorders. The successful applicant will be appointed in the Department of Pharmacology and will also serve as the Executive Director of LARC. This position offers a unique opportunity to build upon a robust foundation of groundbreaking achievements, including notable successes in basic and translational addiction research, public health innovation, and drug discovery. The successful candidate will not only focus on conducting substance use disorder research but will also provide the strategic leadership necessary to harmonize basic and clinical research initiatives, cultivating a collaborative ecosystem that accelerates the translation of fundamental scientific discoveries into impactful real-world clinical applications.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:
• An advanced degree (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD) accompanied by a distinguished record of research excellence in addiction science, pharmacology, neuroscience, or a closely related discipline.
• A robust history of securing extramural funding with an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed publications.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic setting, highlighted by exceptional communication skills and the proven ability to foster dynamic collaborations across multidisciplinary teams and diverse audiences.
• A compelling strategic vision for unifying basic science, clinical research, and education to address the multifaceted challenges presented by substance use disorders.
