Job Description

What You’ll Do:
Plan and deliver instruction aligned to IEP goals, adapting curriculum to meet individual student needs.
Counsel students individually and in groups on academic, social, vocational, and personal matters.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support students in inclusive settings.
Engage with parents and professional staff regarding student progress and challenges.
Assist students in setting realistic educational and occupational goals.
Implement motivational strategies for students with short attention spans or difficulty working independently.
Participate in student admission, placement, and evaluation processes.
Support or supervise vocational and work-experience programs when applicable.
Maintain accurate special education files and comply with state and district policies.
Select and manage instructional materials, supplies, and records.
Experience You’ll Need:
Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Special Education (Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs).
Valid California EL Authorization or equivalent credential.
Demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and strategies for students with learning handicaps.
Experience developing, writing, and implementing IEPs.
Strong ability to collaborate with staff, families, and community resources.
Commitment to ongoing professional study in psychology, behavior, and special education best practices.
